Doesn't Anyone Tap Dance Anymore?

Last night I convinced the New Jersey-ite to watch Cover Girl (1944) with me by telling him it was a great old nostalgic movie.  He lasted approximately 20 minutes and then told me that he was going to take the dog for a walk (it was maybe 8 degrees out and 10PM).  Ok, fine I admit that maybe there was a little bit too much singing and tap dancing for his taste.  Don't you love how almost every old movie includes tap dancing?  It seems like that was a standard talent for stars in those days.
Does anyone tap dance anymore?

I was just thinking about this a couple of weeks ago when I was watching "White Christmas" for the umpteenth time. Song and dance aren't appropriate for every movie but why do musicals only come in animated form now? Also, what happened to the variety show? I love it when I catch "Laugh-In" or "The Carol Burnett Show" re-runs. Maybe we could replace a few of the crummy reality shows with decent variety shows. Just a thought.

Liz - I was looking for something like that to see on New Year's! I can't find anything but I have really been having a craving for a cool, live, variety show type night.
I agree on replacing the reality TV shows too. I used to love it but if I see one more episode of Project Runway I may off myself!
