Next Time You're In New York: Stanton Social

Over the weekend I had a chance to get together with an old girlfriend and we had dinner at Stanton Social. Completely worth going to! Their music was amazing, their food was amazing, and the staff was incredibly hospitable. Their food is small plate (tapas style) so you order a whole bunch of plates to share. Milwaukee has a great small plate style restaurant too called La Merenda .
My favorite thing about the menu was that every item was well thought out and incredibly creative. You could try some of their ideas for a dinner party as well. My favorites were the Chicken and Waffles, the Onion Soup Dumplings (these were really cool bite sized dumplings with the soup inside), and the Kobe beef sliders.

Wait what are chicken and waffles tapas like? Just really small chicken and waffles?

I was informed that chicken and waffles are THE brunch item to have in NYC right now. I'd never had them before and yes, they are little tiny waffles with chicken and syrup on them.
They sound gross but they are nuggets of heaven! Now, I'm back at home and determined to find somewhere that serves them.

Um, you don't have to explain to someone from Los Angeles - aka the home of world famous Roscoe's Chicke and Waffles - what the actual dish is. We know all too well. I daresay we in SoCal are the luminaries of this culinary delight.

I was just curious if the tapas version is just a teensy weensy take on it... guess so? Truth be told I would love a tapas version since eating a full on breakfast of chicken and waffles is more than I can take usually. I lay around like Jabba the Hut for the next two hours if I eat it.

oh... I guess it's just everyone in between the coasts that don't know about this chicken / waffle phenomenon... or maybe it's just me.
How did this escape my attention so long?
